  1. I first saw Dorothy teach on a film when I was a student teacher in London. I was immediately mesmerised at the way that she worked so differently with classes and I was determined to learn more, so trained further in drama in education myself. I have since spent all my working life in this field. I realised immediately that Dorothy was a very special and highly skilled drama practitioner. In the last few years I have met Dorothy several times and worked with her at National Drama Conferences in the UK, as well as in Greece and Turkey. She attended a workshop I gave in Durham and her contributions were particularly deep and profound. I invited her later to Norfolk to lead a residential weekend with teachers. She kept everyone highly engaged and deeply thoughtful. I learned much from her approach to theatre. I come away from spending time with her, moved by her immense humanity, her profound and inspirational thinking (combined with being so down to earth) and her great charisma and impact, as well as the breadth of her drama practice. I was also deeply touched at the care shown by her daughter and grandaughter as her companions on longer trips and I also enjoyed talking with them. Her effect on teachers and their reflective practice is deep and will continue I am sure. She has certainly influenced my own drama practice and professional development. Thank you Dorothy!
